Hawken Receives Character Award for Second Year

Hawken Middle School has received a “Promising Practices” award from the Character Education Partnership for the second year in a row.

Each year the Character Education Partnership, a national “coalition of organizations and individuals committed to fostering effective character education,” recognizes U.S. schools and educators who have “implemented unique, specific, and effective character education strategies” in their school communities.

Hawken received a “Promising Practices” award from the CEP for the program "Global Partnership Using Film to Explore Character," created by the Middle School student life team.

The advisory-based character education program calls on students to discuss and reflect on character values through the medium of film. The Middle School partnered with ACS International School, a school in London doing the same program, allowing for Skype discussions about views, experiences and cultural differences.
