Students Take 2nd and 3rd in State Chess

Two middle school students competed in the Ohio Grade Level Chess Championships held at Kent State University on November 23, winning 2nd and 3rd place trophies.
In an intense day of five games with small breaks in between, seventh grader Brennen Keuchel won four of his games and received the second place trophy among 32 students in the Grade 7 section.

Sixth grader Vijay Sastry won four out of five games and earned third place among 42 students in the Grade 6 section.
 
The boys were among 318 students from all corners of Ohio competing for the championship titles in 13 sections of K-12.
