"The Race" to be Held on Mother's Day

Join Hawken at The Race this Sunday at Legacy Village, founded by Hawken siblings and graduates Josh '10 and Dani '12 Berns, to raise funds for breast cancer research.
On Mother's Day, Sunday May 12, "The Race" will be held at Legacy Village. It is the 10th year of the event, which has raised more than $750,000 for breast cancer research done here in Cleveland. The goal is to top $1 million this year, with new funds supporting cutting edge research by UH Seidman Cancer Center.

The Race was founded by Hawken graduates and siblings Josh '10 and Dani '12 Berns in honor of a Hawken mom Sue Liebeskind, who lost her battle with breast cancer, as well as another family friend.

This year Effective Leadership Academy has incorporated a program where 30 high school students are learning about leadership and philanthropy, and then incorporating these skills into various aspects of The Race. These students had the opportunity to spend time with Lyndsay Harris, Director of Breast Cancer Research at UH, to learn about breast cancer and her latest research as well.

Join the Hawken School team and participate by registering online at dotherace.com, or in-person the day of the race beginning at 8 am. The Race begins at 9 am. There is a one-mile run and a one-mile walk, so everyone can participate, and there will be fun activities for the kids.
