Jane Warner-Seik, a member of the Hawken community for more than 30 years, passed away in March at her Ft. Collins, CO, home after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was 75 years old.
Jane moved to the Upper School campus in 1966 where she and her husband, Keith Warner, raised their family in a house on the athletic field road. In 1975 she became the head librarian at Gates Mills. During her tenure at Hawken, Jane worked under five heads of school, watched the barn go from yellow to red, and then helped protect her home from sparks as the barn burned to the ground. All four of her children are Hawken graduates: Jeff Warner '77, Diane (Warner) Jesser '78, Steve Warner '81, and Karen (Warner) Coyner '83.
Jane met and married Hawken chemistry teacher Larry Seik in 1985 and upon their retirement moved to Ft. Collins in 2000. Her retirement was filled with RV traveling throughout the US, genealogical research, and volunteering for the Ft. Collins Cat and Rescue Clinic.
