Graduate Grows Local Greenhouse
Alayne Reitman ‘82 has more than a green thumb. After years of work as board chair for the Green City Growers Cooperative (GCGC), her efforts have helped grow a hydroponic food production greenhouse. Located at 55th and Woodland, the worker owned cooperative business harvest their first crop last week and will supply Cleveland-area retailers and wholesalers with fresh leafy greens year-round.
In addition to being a Hawken graduate, Alayne is a 2012 Richard W. Day Award recipient and the mother of Jacob '19, Zach '21 and Ben '24. Read more about the Green City Growers Cooperative from The Plain Dealer.
