Senior Appointed to National Advisory Group on Food Allergies

Liam Oznowich ’13 has been named a 2012 Teen Advisor for the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN). The Network’s Teen Advisory Group helps promote food allergy awareness while offering advice and tips on food allergy management to other allergic teens. According to FAAN, food allergy is a potentially life-threatening medical condition that affects as many as 15 million Americans, including almost 6 million children. Each year, FAAN chooses 40 teens from across the U.S. to act as Teen Advisors.

FAAN is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise public awareness, provide advocacy and education, and promote research for food allergies and anaphylaxis. The organization was involved in the passage of the 2004 Food Allergen and Labeling Consumer Protection Act and the 2010 Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Management Act on Capitol Hill. FAAN also provides information and educational resources for patients and families, schools, health professionals, pharmaceutical companies, the food industry, and government officials. It has 22,000 members worldwide.
