Antiques Show Raises Funds for White House

Hawken School hosted its 27th Annual White House Antiques Show on Memorial Day at the Upper School Campus. The event featured well-respected dealers from all around the country selling such items as Period 18th through 20th Century European and American furniture, Mid-century (fifties) pieces, as well as silver, clocks, paintings, prints, quilts, jewelry, books, lamps, porcelain, china, glass, carpets and more.

The show raised funds for the upkeep of Hawken's historic White House, built in 1923 and included in the National Register of Historic Places. The former Circle W. Farm was once the home of Walter White, president of White Motor Company. It currently serves as Hawken's study, dining, and office facility and is available to local community groups for tours, wedding receptions and other gatherings.

Despite the slow economy, this year's show included a wide variety of dealers and an estimated attendance of 900. "We pride ourselves with having a wide variety of dealers so that there is something for everyone in every price range," says show chair Grosvie Cooley.
