Students Conduct Campus Service

On Thursday, September 22 Upper School students took part in a day of a service day fanning out across both the Lyndhurst and Gates Mills campuses as well as reporting for service with partner organizations. Projects ranged from cleaning the gray gym special events kitchen, to sorting and packing food at the Food Bank, to making fundraising calls and archiving school photos.

One group of students planted day lilies donated by Victoria Ford Jetton, daughter of the late Jonathon Ford ’31 and great niece of Walter White, the builder and original occupant of what we now call The White House. The lilies were part of a collection from a family estate in Middlefield and will now grace the Upper School campus.

Another group headed to the flats to help clean and repair 600 bicycles at the Ohio City Bike Coop where they also learned about the nonprofit's Earn a Bike Program. Several groups headed out to work in urban gardens with one group shelling beans for a farmer involved in the Refugee Response program at Ohio City Farm.
