Charlise Lyles ’77 to Speak at Gries Center

Noted author and 1977 Hawken graduate Charlise Lyles will return to Cleveland on September 26 to share her experiences and insights with the Hawken community.

Born and raised in Cleveland, Lyles is a seasoned journalist who devotes her efforts to educational equity. She is the co-founding editor of Catalyst Cleveland, now Catalyst Ohio magazine, recipient of several awards from The Ohio Society for Professional Journalists, and winner of a Clarion Award from the Association of Women in Communication.

Charlise attended Hawken School as one of the first African American women admitted to the previously all male school. During her evening session with the Hawken community she will discuss the challenges her educational path presented.

The event, which will take place at the Gries Center from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., is open to members of the Hawken community, University Circle neighbors and partners, and the Cleveland educational community. Please click here to RSVP.
