Hawken Celebrates Opening of New Early Childhood Center
Hawken opened the doors on its stunning new early childhood center on Sunday, August 21, with a grand opening celebration that included a keynote address from renknowed education expert Dr. T. Berry Brazelton, Professor of Pediatrics Emeritus, Harvard Medical School and founder of the Brazelton Touchpoints Center at Children’s Hospital Boston.
The shining jewel of the new facility is a central community space named "The Nido," which is Italian for "nest." Designed to accommodate Hawken's world-class curriculum, construction on the Early Childhood Center began in March and was completed in time for the 2011-2012 school year.
Dr. Brazelton was visibly impressed with the new building and with what Hawken is doing for its youngest learners. "It's a real inspiration," he said.
