Upper School Wins 7th Consecutive OCTM Contest

Four Hawken School students placed first in Division II in the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics High School Mathematics Contest held on Saturday, February 26th. The team, consisting of Josh Petrack ’12, Ani Dasarathy ’12, Russell Cohen ’13, and Elliott Glazer ’14, had a combined score of 115, which gave them a two point advantage over second place division finisher WRA. This is the 7th consecutive first place division finish for Hawken students. The team also tied for ninth place in the state overall.

The victory earns the four students an invitation to the Ohio Mathematics Invitational Olympiad to be held in Columbus at Capital University on Saturday, March 26th. Ani, Josh, and Elliott had already qualified for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination by scoring in the top 5% nationally on the American Mathematics Competition.
