Lyndhurst Lunches Rank High on Nutrition

Since Lyndhurst began its work with the Cleveland Clinic several years ago, Hawken has made great strides in its school lunch program, exceeding the national nutritional guidelines recently passed for schools. In addition to having already surpassed the requirements for calories, fat, saturated fat, protein, calcium, cholesterol, sodium and fiber and meeting the goal of zero grams of trans fat per serving, the Lyndhurst lunch program already meets the national goal for sodium reduction set for 2020. Not only does establishing healthy eating habits early promote life-long health, but studies show that students who eat well have more energy and a greater ability to focus in the classroom.
