Visit through January 2
Seventeen Hawken art students and Arts Chair Denise Buckley were invited by the Cleveland Museum of Art to create an installation for the museum's annual Lantern Festival. "Winter’s Whimsical World" portrays a mythical kingdom consisting of human and animal configurations, both real and imaginary. Three larger than life-size heads on top of illuminated boxes create the illusion of guardianship over this whimsical world. Beneath the heads are cloaked forms which transmute into a frieze of fanciful human and animal elements. The creations of upper school students Katherine Nelson, Emily Anagnostos, Annie Artz, Pia Beck, Daniel DiSanto, Isabella DiSanto, Nora Eagan, Stuart Farmer, Kevin Goodrich, Erin Holub, Abby Kolk, Jennifer Mazanec, Ian Mullenhour, Colleen Schikowski, Mona Waruingi, Ben Whitehead, Gabe Whitehead and Will Woods sculptures are on exhibit until January 2, 2011. They also had the honor of leading the annual Lantern Processional on December 4.
