On May 13, seven members of the middle school energy team traveled to the Fawcett Center at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Under the leadership of science teacher Mr. Peter Thomas, the team attended the annual Ohio Energy Project awards banquet in recognition of their efforts on energy-related projects this year. The team is comprised of students in grades 6 through 8: Ryuta Fujita, Andrew Holmes, Mara Ursu, Sarah Neides, Nick Wood, Sam Schlang, Shang-Shang Chen, and Elliot Glazer. Aric Floyd also attended the awards banquet. He was recognized as a winner in the Ohio Energy Efficiency annual bookmark contest. This year`s theme was, \"Energy Efficiency is Our Responsibility for Ohio.\" His entry and accompanying essay were considered the best 8th grade entry in Ohio. Aric`s winning bookmark has been professionally reproduced and will be distributed to schools and libraries throughout the state. Hawken middle school students each received one of these bookmarks after a recent chapel assembly. Congratulations, Aric!
