Cross Country Makes Tracks at Perry Invitational

lvl
The 2009 Hawken Middle School Cross Country team is 14 members strong, says co-coach Pam Richman. All runners have mastered the rigorous two-mile courses across fields, through woods, and over hills. The Perry Invitational is an especially exciting event. Fifteen schools and 200 runners compete in one of three races - the boys`, the girls`, or the coed open race. Hawken is proud to announce that four of our runners earned medals for their performances on the Perry Outdoor YMCA course. Our top runners in the boys` race, Nick and Alex Wood, crossed the finish line as the twenty-fourth and twenty-ninth runners, respectively. Eleanor Rimmerman and Lena Goren medaled in the open race. Both achieved excellent times. Lena was the second girl to cross the finish line! \"We have been very lucky to have mostly cool, overcast race days this year,\" says Mrs. Richmann. \"This kind of weather is perfect for running and for shaving seconds and even minutes off runners` times.\" A hearty congratulations to these distinguished runners!
