Fifth Graders Shine in GCCTM Math Competition

This year, 26 fifth grade students practiced after school twice a week for about 6 weeks to prepare for the Greater Cleveland Council Teachers of Mathematics Competition. On May 16, Hawken was represented by 12 of these students who competed in four events including problem solving, construction (a geometry component), number sense and mental math. The practice paid off and our teams earned two trophy awards and one Blue Ribbon Championship award. Students participating in the competition included: Anthony Charles, Sarah Parker, Michael Gerace, Sarah Senkfor, Jacob Cohen, Austin Halpern, Sauma Du, Abby Forsythe, Hannah Krall, Sears Schulz, Kole Hoffman, and Chiara Cominelli.
