Seventh and Eighth Grade Students Medal in Math

On Saturday, May 2, twelve seventh and eighth grade students went to Mayfield High School to participate in the annual Greater Cleveland Council of Teachers of Mathematics Contest. Hundreds of students competed in this event at one of eight contest locations in the greater Cleveland area. In four challenging rounds involving mental math and team problem-solving, all twelve of our students earned the highest honor, receiving a medal for placing in the top 20% of participating teams. This is no small feat, especially when they had to arrive in the early morning on the day following the conclusion of Doorways, a very high-energy week for everyone! Our seventh grade competitors, listed in teams of three, were Lena Goren, Eleanor Rimmerman, and Sarah Stark; Henry Senkfor, Sophie Kerman, and Mike Pagon; Elliot Glazer, Sindhura Vallabhaneni, and Shang-Shang Chen. Eighth grade contestants were Isaiah Holmes, Alex Kaufmann, and Arthur Erlendsson. All of these students earn heartiest congratulations for their accomplishment as well as their dedication to excellence in mathematics.
