Hawken Sophomore Named NSLI for Youth Scholar

Stephen Hopkins `11, a Chinese I student in Mr. Chen`s language class, has received a scholarship to study abroad in China next year through the National Security Language Initiative for Youth, a program sponsored by the U.S. Government and administered by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State. Stephen is one of 30 students chosen to spend a semester in China. An avid soccer player, he plans to spend the fall semester and soccer season at Hawken before heading off to China, where he hopes to join a club team as part of his immersion experience.
