Hawken`s Speaker Series hosted its first event of year with an economic talk show featuring financial consultant Scott Roulston `75, Cleveland State University professor Kenneth Borokhovich and National City CEO Peter Raskind. The panel, organized and moderated by Hawken senior Aaron Kohn, discussed recent economic downturns, the fallout from the subprime mortgage crisis, the government`s bailout plan and what the financial situation means for students and the rest of Americans. In the end, the panelists urged the students to remain engaged in current events, to hold politicians accountable for government spending, also a factor in the country`s ailing economy, and to be financially responsible themselves. "I don`t care if it`s a person, a household, or a country," Raskind noted. "If you live beyond your means, you will pay.
