Eighth, Ninth Grader Win Big at Power of Pen

Eighth grader Sonia Feldman recently traveled to the Power of the Pen State Competition for Young Writers at the College of Wooster. The tournament is the culmination of 28 District and 12 Regional competitions held throughout the State of Ohio. Approximately 700 writers from 300 schools in Ohio were participants in the all-day writing tournament that consisted of four 35-minute writing rounds and a \"Power Round.\" Sonia won a Best of the Best Award which is the highest honor an individual can achieve in the competition. In addition, ninth grader, Hannah Kerman, was also honored with a Promising Young Author Award - Honorable Mention presented by author, Jaime Adoff, a well-known writer of young adult fiction and son of the late Virginia Hamilton, who was the keynote speaker at the competition.
