Colleen Bartman
By Colleen Bartman `08 Leader of the Ohio Branch of RSD in Motion Recent News: Colleen will appear on WKYC`s Good Company on Wednesday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m. and on WEWS` News at Noon on Thursday, June 12 to talk about RSD and to promote the Walk-n-Roll. The following was written by Colleen. Read on for more information about the event. It takes inspiration to bring about change for the good. Inspiration sometimes comes from a recuperation of a negative experience in one`s life. For four girls, Jordan Keen, Amanda Beck, Lauren Reilly, and me, whose friendships formed by our little known debilitating illness, our inspiration came from our battle with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD). RSD is a painful, debilitating neurological syndrome that presently has no known cure. I am a senior at Hawken Upper School and I am lucky enough to have had a procedure last fall that resulted in my remission from RSD. It is senior project time at Hawken Upper School, and I am organizing the \"Walk-n-Roll\" for RSD. This fundraising event will provide support, inspiration and hope for RSD patients, raise awareness into the general public and health professionals, and all proceeds will be donated to RSDSA (www.rsds.org), a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) established in 1984 that promotes the public and professional awareness of RSD. The goal is to raise at least $15,000 for RSDSA! The event will be held on June 14, 2008 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Hawken Upper School`s Walton Stadium. Registration opens at 5:00 p.m. and closes at 5:45 p.m. To register, go to www.RSDinMotion.org and locate the \"Walk-n-Roll\" for RSD link on the left-hand navigation bar. Non-participants who wish to make a donation, can make a check out to RSDSA and send it to: Colleen M. Bartman 2801 MLK Jr. Drive / CR11 Cleveland, Ohio 44104 I am looking forward to this inspirational and supportive event. It is a great senior project because I am able to help out the RSD community. It is also an opportunity for Hawken students to get together at the end of the school year. If there are any questions on RSD, RSD in Motion, RSDSA, and/or the \"Walk-n-Roll\" for RSD, please feel free to contact me, Colleen Bartman, at RSDinMotionOH@hotmail.com or (330) 607-6539 or go to www.RSDinMotion.org.
