Memorial Service Planned

The Hawken Community will gather on Friday, September 28 at 2:30 pm in Kennedy Auditorium at Gates Mills for a celebration of Sharleen Russo`s life. Shar served the School in many capacities for 25 years, most recently as Assistant to the Director of the Upper School. Her brave battle against breast cancer, which began in the spring of 2004, ended peacefully on September 4, 2007, in the presence of her family and closest friends. The Hawken community knew Shar as a nurturing, caring and ever-positive presence in Ireland Hall. While deeply missed, those who knew Shar also know that she would want us to celebrate, not mourn. If you have a story, remembrance or photograph that you wish to share during the celebration, please contact Emily Morton. A time for visiting and refreshments will follow the program. Also, individuals who wish to support the family with contributions that offset the financial burden that unfortunately comes with prolonged illnesses should send them to the Head of School`s office, care of Emily Morton. Checks should be made out to Hawken School, with a notation that the donation is for the Shar Russo Fund.
