What`s "Acting Black" or "Acting White?"

jb
Four Hawken students recently traveled to the 90.3 WCPN radio studio to participate in a conversation on race, ethnicity and American culture. Students from the entire Cleveland area participated in the on-air program. The wide-ranging discussion covered all aspects of what it means to say someone is \"acting black\" or \"acting white.\" Various students talked about their experiences with these labels and pointed out the folly of labeling someone`s actions on the basis of color. The panelists and the students also delved into the psychological, socio-economic and historical basis for these labels. Hawken students Adajah Morgan-Bennett `11, Patricia Robinson `08, Rebecca Evans `08 and Marie Hammock `08 found the conversation to be thought provoking and are working on ways to stimulate a conversation around these issues at Hawken School.
