Madeleine Bruml received the Alumni Association`s highest student honor, the Charles B. Bolton Award, at Awards Day ceremonies on Friday, June 1. The daughter of Cindy and Bob Bruml `72 and sister of Andrew `04 and Elizabeth `10, Madeleine, a Hawken lifer, was chosen for her involvement with alumni affairs as a student and her active involvement while at Hawken in student, community and civic affairs. The Bolton Award, which was first given in 1977, is the culminating honor on Awards Day and is among the most highly anticipated honors a senior can receive. Presenting the award to Ms. Brulm was Martin Schulz `82, President of the Alumni Association. Receiving the first annual Grant Roth `85 Community Service Award at Awards Day ceremonies on was Aaron Kohn `08. Pictured below are Kohn, center, with, from left, Bob and Margo Roth, parents of Grant, Michael Weil `85, who presented the award; Grant`s sister, Julie Namy `88 and her son, Grant. The award remembers the legacy of Grant at Hawken and his commitment to community and civic affairs. Recipients are provided a $500 stipend, provided by the Roth family and directed to a charity or non-profit organization chosen by the award recipient. During Awards Day, nearly 100 students were recognized for excellence in math, science, english, the arts and more at this year`s Awards Day, the last official assembly seniors will experience before Commencement. Faculty, staff, students and parents alike gathered in Kennedy Auditorium to once again salute the exceptional accomplishments of Hawken Upper School students as the year draws to an end.
