Track & Field Athletes advance to State Competition

The OHSAA Region 9 Track & Field Finals were held at Navarre Fairless High School on Wednesday & Friday. The Boys team scored 32.5 points to finish in 5th place in a field of 54 teams, and the Girls scored 13 points to finish 16th in a field of 48 teams. Tyler Nichols advanced to State Competition in the Long Jump (20-6.5) and 100m High Hurdles (15.14) with a 1st and 3rd place finish. Oge Anoliefo will participate in Columbus in the 200m (22.95) after winning a run-off for the 4th qualifying spot. The Boys 4x100m Relay team of Jake McKay, Tyler Nichols, Jake Willen and Oge Anoliefo set the new school record of 43.82 seconds on way to becoming regional champions. Louise Gliga dropped 26 seconds from her previous best 3200m time to set a new school record and advance to State Competition with a 4th place finish in a time of 11:26.05. Other Regional Meet finalists included; Stephen Johnson-Shot Put(44-10.5, 9th Place), Girls 4x800m Relay(10:01.22, 6th Place), Jake McKay-100m Dash(11.59, 7th Place), Louise Gliga-1600m Run(5:16.32, 6th place), Vicki Wilson-300m Hurdles(48.42, 7th place). The OHSAA State Track & Field Meet begins on Friday June 1 at Ohio State University.
