Fourth-grader shaves head for cancer

jb
Cassidy was 10 years old when she was diagnosed with malignant brain tumors. Anthony was only two when he found out he had leukemia. They`re only two of thousands of children who are diagnosed with cancer each year. That didn`t sit well with Hawken fourth grader Evan Hill, so, recently, he shaved his head and joined thousands of others throughout the country who did the same to raise money for St. Baldrick`s Foundation, a national fundraising program for childhood cancer research. When a family friend`s son was diagnosed with cancer two years ago, Evan, who was seven at the time, began participating with St. Baldrick`s and realized that making a difference doesn`t have an age requirement. With the help of his mom and dad, he solicited sponsors who put money on his smooth noggin and ended up raising quite a bit of money. This year, Evan raised over $2,500, which is 166 percent of his original goal. He plans to continue his efforts every other year. To donate in Evan`s name, click here.
