Hawken Artists Win Accolades

LL
Nine Hawken art students received accolades in the Scholastics Art and Writing Awards, a competition amongst 75,000 teens across the nation and regarded as the most prestigious recognition program for creative youth in the nation. The competition begins on the regional level and Gold Key winners go on to the national competition that culminates in a show in either New York City or Washington, D.C. Five Hawken students captured Gold Key awards for their innovative artwork and four additional students received Silver Key awards or Honorable Mentions in the competition. These nine talented students joined other regional winners at the Opening Ceremonies of the student art show at the Cleveland Institute of Art on Sunday, January 18. The winning creations will remain on exhibit there for several weeks. Congratulations to all of our talented artists including Gold Key award winners Guy Baratz `09 (computer imagery), Amanda Moore `10 (photography), Daniel DiSanto `11 (sculpture), Dana Lee `09 (sculpture), Natalie Rorick `10 (sculpture); Silver Key awards winners Travis Reilly `11 (printmaking) and John Kachurek `10 (photography); and Honorable Mention recipients Daniel DiSanto `11 (printmaking), Hannah Kerman `11 (printmaking) and Matthew Blanchard `10 (sculpture).
