Third Grader`s Indians Uniform Design Lands in PD

jb
When third grader Helen Kovac took up the task of redesigning the Tribe uniform, she decided she`d totally overhaul the look and give it a more \"modren (that`s not misspelled)\" flair, spicing it up with purples, browns, greens, yellows, and browns in addition to the signature red and blue. Last week`s PDQ section of The Plain Dealer asked readers to create their own Indians look and only provided them with a simple black and white drawing of a player. Helen`s design, which seems to be a tribute to Travis Hafner (see attached photo), was a wild assortment of polka dots, curlicues and plaids on the pants and yellowish-green hearts trimmed in purple for the shirt. Her player even had tattoos of \"C\" and \"I\" on either arm. In this past Sunday`s section, her look won the praise of Plain Dealer style editor Kim Crow and a place in Q`d in, a feature in PDQ. Of the design, Crow raved, \"Love, kisses and very high drama.\"
