Junior Jennifer Aronoff was recently named to USA Swimming`s Scholastic All-American Team, which comprises high school athletes. To qualify for the honor, students must have a G.P.A. of 3.5 or above and must have participated in an individual event in either the 2005 U.S. Paralympics Swimming National Championships, 2005 Open Water National Championships, 2005 Summer Speedo Championships Series (summer sectionals), 2005 ConocoPhillips Nationals, 2005 Junior Swimming Championships, 2005 U.S. Open, 2006 Speedo Champions Series (spring sectionals), or 2006 Spring Championships. Aronoff competed in the Junior Swimming Championships, held in Irvine, Calif., in August. Hawken swimming coach Jerry Holtrey said, "she is a combination of high ability, high dedication, good discipline and, putting it all together, it makes her an outstanding swimmer as well as a very fine academic student." Aronoff is no stranger to swimming accolades, having gathered a wealth of them during her swimming career. She was the first American swimmer to win a medal at the International Children Games, going on to win one in Cleveland in 2004 and three in Coventry, England, in 2005. Last year, she placed third and fourth at the Division II state meet in the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke, respectively, and was also a part of the 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams that won the state championships. USA Swimming is the National Governing Body for the sport of swimming.
