Give him a few years. Lifer David Ellis +óGé¼-£07 could end up onstage at Carnegie Hall, making his world debut. "...I`m sure that we`ll be hearing more from this exceptionally gifted student in the years to come," said Board of Trustees President Alan Rosskamm after one of his cello performances. David`s a senior at Hawken`s Upper School and an aspiring musical student, who excels in singing and playing the cello. With college only a year away, he hopes to enroll at a conservatory or a university with a stellar music program. It`s only fitting; he already seems accustomed to only the best. David currently plays in two local youth orchestras, the Contemporary Youth Orchestra, and the renowned Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra, where he comes into contact with some of the Cleveland-area`s and world`s finest musicians. At Hawken, he`s a baritone in the Hawken Chamber Chorale. and has spent his Upper School career engrossed in the School`s arts offerings from school musicals to an orchestral ensemble. But don`t just call him a musician. He`s a lot more than that and credits Hawken`s atmosphere for making him a well-rounded person. \"As far as what Hawken has taught me, I appreciate the academic standard that it gives its students,\" he said. \"In addition, the diversity of interests in the student body has taught me how to present myself as an individual while growing in other areas.\" Amy Murdoch `08 contributed to this feature.
