Holocaust Survivor Speaks To Seventh Grade

waskowitz
Students in the 7th grade had the rare opportunity to hear from Mrs. Frankel, a Holocaust survivor, at a special assembly on Wednesday, May 3, 2006. Complementing their recent study of the Holocaust and trip to the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C., students listened intently to Mrs. Frankel`s description of life during the Nazi occupation of Poland. After being sent to the Lodz ghetto, Mrs. Frankel and her family were eventually sent to the Auschwitz concentration camp. It was at Auschwitz where Mrs. Frankel lost most of her family members. After the liberation of the death camps, Mrs. Frankel eventually made her way to Cleveland, where she has lived since her arrival to the United States. The seventh grade students, moved by Mrs. Frankel`s visit, will be collecting money to donate to charities that Mrs. Frankel has long supported that attempt to rid the world of anti-semitic activities.
