Speech and Debate Looks to Take Top Prizes at Championship

After an impressive showing at the recent national qualifying district tournament, the Speech and Debate Team is headed to the state championships and two juniors are headed to nationals in Las Vegas in June. Dylan Herts and Drew Macklis were both national qualifiers and district champions with a win in every ballot of every round in which they competed. As a team, Hawken received the Sweepstakes Plaque from the National Forensic League for the top school overall and also received the Sprowls Sweepstakes Award for first place in sweepstakes at the tournament. Here`s a look at where team members stand after the qualifying meet.
