Winter Musical Not to Be Missed

During the last two weekends in February, HPS will perform The Will Rogers Follies. This musical performance is an examination of the life of the famous American humorist and Renaissance man, Will Rogers. Told in the style of a Zeigfeld Follies show, Will Rogers himself takes you through his life as a writer, a broadcaster, a humorist, a politician, a roper, a family man, a political candidate, and a Broadway star. The Will Rogers Follies is rich with wit, wisdom, humor and spectacular musical numbers, with the original Broadway choreography as created by Tommy Tune, restaged and recreated by guest choreographer Marlene Leber from Hathaway Brown. Senior Rob Rodems stars as Will Rogers, with Senior Nicole Pursell as his wife Betty Blake, senior Eric Barbato as Clem Rogers (Will`s father) and senior Cat Kachurek as Florenz Ziegfeld`s favorite chorus girl. Along with a cast of 30, they make The Will Rogers Follies an event not to be missed. The show also features members of the Hawken faculty adding their voices as pit singers in the show as well as four Hawken Middle School students performing in the cast. With musical direction by Gary Darrow and Dan Call, technical direction by Dave Glowacki and the show directed by Pat McCabe, this is truly a unique Hawken community event.
