Visiting Author Highlights Africa and Writing Craft at Lyndhurst

Jane Kurtz visited the Lower School and Middle School community on November 1-2. She did special presentations with 4th and 2nd grade, read to kindergarten and shared lunch with Power of the Pen participants. Her presentation was varied and engaging, including many photos. Kurtz grew up in Ethiopia, so many pictures showed scenes from there but also of her with her family growing up. She spoke to 4th graders about of what is known of the ancient times in Ethiopia, back to the Queen of Sheba who is reputed to come from there. Second graders heard about how she draws ideas from her own childhood and from raising her own family.
