Students Invest in Community

Last year the Investment Club won three consecutive seasons of the Ohio Stock Market Game. Then they followed their successes with a trip to New York City and Wall Street where they visited the floor of the New York Stock Exchange. But the group decided that it wasn`t enough for themselves to succeed GÇô they want to teach other young people about sound financial planning and investment. So they developed a presentation that they plan to take to Cleveland area schools. Their first presentation was at Citizen`s Academy in October. Speaking to a group of fifth graders, the Hawken students reviewed the basics of earning, saving and investing. They enhanced their knowledge with a power point presentation and questions posed to students. Carol Clark Macklis, mother of Andrew `09 and Paul `11, advises the young investors.
