6th Grade Knowledge Master Team Places 2nd in State, 10th Worldwide
The 6th grade Hawken Knowledge Master team competed in the winter competition on January 19th,working exceptionally well together - analyzing the questions and narrowing down the choices in such a way that they were able to answer 87 of the 100 questions accurately, most of the time within the 15 seconds!
The results: These students not only earned 2nd in the state of Ohio out of the 21 teams who competed, but also came in 10th out of the 99 teams worldwide from schools in our population group, missing ninth by only 2 points. Interestingly, this category is for schools with 200 to 499 students, making us one of the smallest schools in the grouping.
The strength of this accomplishment can also be seen in the comparison between our score and the mean score. The mean score for all 283 schools internationally who participated was 541 and the means for Ohio was 524. The Hawken team scored a dynamite 622 points. They were particularly strong in the topics of Government, Literature, Physical Science, Earth Science, Health & Psychology, and Useless Trivia – answering 100% of the questions in those categories correctly.
