37 Hawken Students Participate in United Nations Conference

On Wednesday, November 11 and Thursday, November 12, 37 Hawken Students attended the 66th Annual Cleveland Council on World Affairs Model United Nations Conference. Student Delegates to the conference represented seven different countries (Iceland, United Kingdom, Finland, Austria, Kosovo, Kenya, & Guyana) in eight different UN Committees and tackled subjects ranging from Child Soldiers in Uganda, Trade deals between Africa and China, Nuclear Arms Security, to Disease Control. Resolutions were passed in all eight Committees, with two teams receiving awards for their work. Omar Diab & Ryan Harkey received a 2nd place finish in the World Health Committee (WHO), Mike Gwin and Alex Zempolich received an Honorable Mention for their work in the Security Council.
